@dollartreedinners: Day 9 of my 12 Days of Dollar Tree Christmas Desserts 🎄✨ Today we’re making Hazelnut Spread Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies using Dollar Tree cookie mix. These were supposed to have a gooey center… but they turned into more of a giant chocolate-chip situation, still tasty, just not quite what I expected. INGREDIENTS: • 2 bags chocolate chip cookie mix • Margarine (per mix needs) • Water (per mix needs) • Hazelnut spread INSTRUCTIONS: Scoop small portions of hazelnut spread onto a parchment-lined tray and freeze until solid. Prepare the chocolate chip cookie dough according to the package directions, using margarine where butter is called for. Chill the dough briefly so it’s easier to work with. Working quickly, wrap portions of cookie dough around the frozen hazelnut spread, sealing it completely inside. Place on a baking sheet and bake according to the cookie mix instructions, until the edges are set. Let cool slightly before serving. NOTE: Instead of melting into a gooey center, the hazelnut spread stayed solid and baked up more like a giant chocolate chip inside the cookie. Still good — just not the ooey-gooey result you might see in similar recipes online. A fun experiment, still tasty, and a good reminder that not every baking test is a perfect win 🎁🍪✨ #holidaybaking #easydesserts #christmascookies #dollartreerecipes #nutella #stuffedcookies #christmasdessert #12daysofchristmas

Nutella/hazelnut spreads react really weirdly with heat in my experience

Maybe adding some powdered sugar and liquid like making an icing. That’s how I make my peanut butter stuffed cookies to have a more molten texture in the middle. Not sure if it works with the hazelnut spread but worth a try

Even Aldi's hazelnut spread isn't as good as the name brand.

Maybe with the generic brand nutella, you shouldn't freeze it and just put it in the middle of the cookie.

Maybe if you add some coconut oil to the hazelnut spread it will give you that texture

I think to fix it, I would spread the hazlenut as a sort of disk, then wrap the cookie dough around it. Maybe even put it in the freezer just long enough for it to harden but not get rock solid. I’m just a home chef but that’s my guess

Curious what makes you choose margarine instead of butter?

What if you spread the hazelnut thin and froze it like a bark. Then cut out or used cookie cutters to get pieces and wrap that in dough. Maybe it behaved like that due to the size of the hazelnut?

this is a dumb question.. do you think it’s cuz it was an off brand spread? or because it was frozen?
