no holidays, no universal healthcare, sky high rent. Purchasing power matters a lot more than salary.

People don’t realise jobs that are paying 150 K in the US also have a really good health insurance. I guess you’re still have to pay 300 $500 co-pay but that’s if you get injured. Like these jobs come with benefits dental vision FSA 401(k) it’s not just the salary if you work for a good company you also get discounts at their partner companies.

People talking about health care don’t understand that any job that pays that much in the US also has a good private health care plan

Exactly. I'm on 85k in London , fully remote as a business analyst. If I went to USA I'll easily be on 6 figures

If your job requires a degree or is classed as "professional services" you'll likley have a much better quality of life in the US than the UK. If you're earning average or below your quality of life will be better in the UK

Haha dude as an America I rather swap with you. We have no universal healthcare, insurance is high, housing is unaffordable in this market, even jobs. We Aren’t different. We are paying every thing out of pocket

I moved to NY for this reason but after living here it’s a little bit complicated. I do believe it’s basically the same to live in London as it is in NY but you’re spending more on things that are less in the UK and things that are more in the UK are less here. Kinda averages out

it’s actually funny watching people try justify this. Accounting for cost of living, purchasing power, exchange rate, tax and healthcare (which is often a benefit included with a job of this level anyway) you are significantly better off. The US is not 2x more expensive than the UK lmao. The only argument you could make is time off but for double the salary who gaf.

Healthcare is expensive, medications are expensive, houses are expensive, rent is expensive, insurance is expensive, 120k after tax 60k but if you have children your left with 10k, paracetamol in the US $40 in the UK 40p, I’ll stick to the UK, US system is basically a scam you get charged 5k for an ambulance😂😂😂

I transferred laterally in my current role, just changed from the UK to the US. Doubled salary, cost of lifestyle is about 25% higher. Net positive. Add in much lower taxation rates mean you save up a LOT more in the US compared to zero in the UK

66k in the UK is 166k in the US. Trust me, you need that money more than we do when you consider all the extra bs you gotta pay for on a daily basis.

what you guys need to understand is America is quite literally a 10x bigger and better economy. that's like eastern Europeans complaining that the UK has higher salaries, well of course it does. secondly, the UK is probably within top 5 in terms of salary for these types of roles, no other country even comes close to America anyways 🤷🏼‍♂️
