FUN FACT the waist is actually considered the most dangerous gunner spot, went to an air museum and got a cool chance to speak with a B17 pilot and I asked if he considered the tail or ball gunner to be the most dangerous spot but he said he considered the waist gunner the most dangerous spot due to it being the most commonly hit spot from enemy fighters, interceptor, and flak, caught me off guard but a cool thing to know nonetheless.
