I think it’s so interesting how black brits are offended when we say that British food is disgusting because if you ask them where they’re from they never mentioned Britain. They’ll say they’re Nigerian, Jamaican, etc.

I saw his video and I was in his comments. We make fun of mushy peas and slop. Not ethic food. And someone tried to say black Americans were making fun of Nigerian food but I’m like how did we get from British food (white) to Nigerian food (black) ? 😂

while I hear your point about black Americans. the one thing most of the response I've seen from Americans has in common is this "why are black british people defending white british food" that is crazy to me. cause it's like one step away from saying "yall aren't even british. cause at what point does a black british person get to claim "white british" food as theirs. can a biracial ?? what about a 7th generation black Briton who's lived as most in a predominantly white neighborhood, what about 3rd generation. hope you see the point I'm tryna make here

I would be interested in hearing from Black Britons who do not come from recent African or Caribbean immigrants but whose families have been in the UK for many generations, if not centuries, like the Black communities from Liverpool or Cardiff.

I think differences in social class, in general, are more prevalent than racial differences in the UK. The traditional British food is less of a "white people" thing, and more of a "working class" thing

You’re just proving his point throughout the entire video. The relationship between white Americans and black Americans is unique to your country. Even if racism still exists every country has different cultures and race relations are more nuanced

it's just Americans trying to force division in other cultures... if Black Brits are telling you they are proud to be British, who are you to tell them they should be excluded from the conversation? There are plenty of problems in this country, which sadly includes institutionalised racism, but is it really so terrible that people from many different cultural backgrounds are so assimilated and PROUD to share a national identity?

it’s more do with the class system - you can be black, white, brown etc but still be tied to different classes - here it’s very aware who belongs in which different classes - id more in common with someone that’s a white / black person in my social class to me than a brown person who’s in a higher social class. i’d have more in common with someone who has beans on toast than someone who doesn’t
