Here’s the proper path when using costco auto program. Get costco price from participating dealership> tell them to send you the costco price in writing (it is mandatory)> use that price and call other dealers to get a bigger discount> then come back to the 1st dealer which is the one with costco price and ask them to beat the deal or else you will go with other dealership (they will usually try to match or beat by $100-$200 and throw in some freebies). Make sure to keep track of which dealer is calling you. Be sure to tell them you don’t want any incentives to be included in the overall discount since you might not qualify (they usually hide it within the discount and when you get they will be like “oops you don’t qualify for that sucks, less discount for you wahaha)

Folks.20 years experience in the business and I agree with Tommy. After Covid the program became a wreck. Costco does NOT control pricing or program. None of it. In fact the dealer has free range discretion to choose price. All that Costco promises is a non negotiable price. At the end of the day.. invoices is invoice. Rebates are rebates and map is msrp. There aren’t any real secrets there.

I got a Costco price for toyota tundra in ‘24 and shopped 4 other dealerships with the paper quote and I said if you can beat it at all I’ll buy here. All 4 dealerships literally let me walk out the door. They couldnt even get close. Thousands of $ apart.

I work at a Costco dealership. Costco only audits a deal when asked. It’s a great way to buy a car. This isn’t very transparent.

My buddy got Costco auto pricing on Tacoma. It had a bunch of discounts, but a bunch of mandatory add-ons. He got price outside of Costco with Toyotathon, $1,500 less 🤷♂️

Costco program worked for me in 2002 and 2015. Went to many other dealerships : friends or friends etc. whether and saves thousands. Everyone does not have master negotiating skills or person. Will continue with Costco and price comparisons

I bought a 2026 Chevy Silverado Duramax Z 71 package with the trail box. They inflated the MSRP to over 61,000 normally the truck advertises on Chevy website as 48,000.. with dealer discounts and factory incentives it brought it back down to 48,000 that’s where I started my negotiation. They didn’t like that. I got the truck down to 41,000 not including tax and license but I had a trade-in with $7000 equity so I’m financing 34,000. It took two trips to the dealership in three days, but I finally got them to the price I wanted

It took me over a week to get the Costco price from a dealer on a Land Cruiser and the Costco price was just $750 under MSRP. I'm not sure if I missed something with the program or if it's really just a discount of a few bucks.
