i agree with you that it definitely feels unsafer in toronto, but crime rates in toronto are down 9.6% this year, which is pretty significant. toronto police already issued a statement that the shooting was an isolated incident. i don’t think shootings or stabbings are “normalized” but there’s so much media coverage around these incidents that make it seem like it’s being normalized, when they shouldn’t be. the media covers so many more crime stories compared to anything else so the drastic coverage is obviously going to change your perception of how much crime is really happening

NO LITERALLY THIS WAS CRAZY. IT’S EVEN SCARIER BECAUSE WE’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE GUNS AT ALL. Yet these things are happening so close by!! It’s also scary because i’ve literally been to where the person was killed before. Students usually park at the bottom of the valley because it is THE ONLY free parking nearby since parking on campus is $200 A MONTH. HELLA expensive.

Facts. I live in Miami now, but am Canadian and lived in Toronto for 10 years. It has gotten SO sketchy. I feel way safer in Miami. Looking at these comments, people are so brainwashed 🤯

Statistically, it’s one of the safest cities per capita in North America for violent crime. Well below Canadian, American, and Mexican averages. It can definitely be better, but any take that it’s relatively unsafe or dangerous vs. peers is just incorrect.
