All the Chrysler AC controls you showed were plastic even the chrome looking ones. They came out in the 1970s. We had them in a 1974 Chrysler New Yorker and then we had them in a 1983 Dodge 600.

DIALS! DIALS! DIALS! Please no more buttons or touch screens!! My 2009 Buick Lucerne has climate control buttons. To go from 60 to 90 degrees, you have to press the buttons 30 times. Or you can hold it down for I think like 15-20 seconds? Soooo annoying!! 🙄

Not sure what you mean. Even with supposed automatic climate control; I need to constantly adjust it.

bad photo since it was dark but I love my climate controls. metal buttons, flat, and sturdy. It can be adjusted by the touch screen too but I love my buttons

The comfortron system was a disaster AC system when it went wrong . Mostly vacuum issues on the older models and s fortune to repair. Standard Gm AC system was good

My friend and I debate on the difference between my regular air conditioner and his auto-air conditioner. He states he can press a button to a specific temperature; after a couple of months I could dial to that specific temperature from memory by looking at the dial. He states but you just have to press a button(numerous times) and I just have to dial. All this to say, when I borrow other people’s cars and set the auto ac to 75°, the temp I like, I still have to adjust it to the temperature I currently want, which I think happens in every car depending upon the current temperature. You’re either inconveniencing yourself by waiting warm up or cool off to the set temperature or you’re inconveniencing yourself to still press buttons/dial to your convenient temperature. 6 or 7…

that identically designed HVAC panel you mentioned and showed was a 1965-1966 Pontiac full size car A.C panel, that was a design that Pontiac used. but I cannot speak for the other divisions. Cadillac was first to recieve new features and equipment like automatic climate control and the TH400 transmission in 1964, then The other divisions got it in the following year.

Some of those older cars had scoops in the rear because the A/C was mounted in the trunk.
