To be honest there’s no formula for reverse parking. Lining up the mirrors won’t work for a much longer car like a transporter or even a bus. So it all depends on varieties of factors.

I drive a stationwagon in a city full of sedans, SUVs, and compact smart cars. Lining up mirrors just doesn't make much sense in the real world.
