Odyssey is fictional, but the war for Troy was real. It happened in the bronze era. Homer wrote his poems 600 years later and he was inspired by that war. His lyric poems are full with fictional side stories and superhumans but the war did happened. And if you look in a museum, you will find out how a Mycenaean armor looked like. Agamemnon looks like an ancient Batman

Here’s the thing about all the “it’s not a real story” argument. Sinners and Nosferatu are fantasy movies, yet every costume is exquisitely curated to the time period. Directors and producers could do something like this, but choose not to and give us more boring colorless blah movies that will always fall flat, just like the Iliad, Alexander, and 300.

They wear Greek hoplite armour, commonly used in 300 bc so the movie is actually accurate. The armour depicted in this is an earlier armour in Greek history and would not have been worn during the odyssey.
