It’s called “one person one language”, if you consistently speak Arabic with the baby and your wife speaks English, they will be able to understand both. Now, where it gets trickier, is when you mix this with the situative model: so when you in some situations speak Arabic and in others French - it can be successful but a lot of times will actually confuse the kid (as you said, your own speech development may have been a bit delayed because of that). A completely different situation would be if you at some point put the baby in a French speaking nursery or had a person in their life who speaks French. Studies have shown that children can grow up distinguishing and learning up to 7 languages, but there needs to be a clear structure/ system to the approach used.

Not a problem - growing up in Vancouver and we spoke 3 languages at home (French, Spanish and English) just speak to her in all languages 🥰

Total separation is the easiest. My daughter is totally fluent in French and English at age 9. English only at home. French only at school. It is important children learn their parents first language and not their bad habits from their parents second and third languages. My French is fluent but it is my second language I learned as an adult and I make mistakes that my daughter doesn’t make because she learned from actual francophones.

I’m Persian Mexican my father was speaking to me in Farsi and my mom in Spanish and English they said I didn’t want to talk I say you teach her Arabic and French and wife in English but she can always learn French in school when she gets older I think 2 languages for now is enough.

I do speak Arabic, French and English and I'm so lazy to teach my children I'm not consistent but all my friends and family stayed strong speaking with the kids in arabic at home, they will learn English at school

AND IF GRANDPARENTS SPEAK FRENCH let them only speak French to her no English no Arabic. Im a early childhood educator and learned this from a speech teacher. As long as tge same person speaks the same language to the child 100% of time Dad Arabic; Mom English; GRANDPARENTS French.

Well you need to start teaching your wife Arabic or French. Then start speaking it to each other around the baby. Once she gets good at one of those then start teaching and practicing the other language around each other. The wife is the key.

My man is Turkish Bulgarian he speak also 3language but we are in Germany we only speak English athome german when we go out😀we speak every day different mix our language I’m Asian by the way😀

Just keep speaking all the languages to the baby. I am from South Africa my kids speak 5 languages from childhood. English, Afrikaans, seSotho, isiZulu and SeTswana

Bring your mum to live with you and speak with the baby Arabic you speak with him french and your wife speak english

I speak Arabic English and Spanish. My mother only spoke English. Cartoons and music works pretty well with the little ones. My kids are bilingual using that method.
