as a human who had the sweetest pitt/shepherd ever. he snapped one day and attacked not only another dog but my step son and myself. sadly regretably I had to do the responsible thing and I had my best friend of 8 years down. come to find out he had dementia and a pain disorder that we didn't find out about until after he was gone

As an ex pit owner, I’ll never own another one or even part of one. Had her as a pup, me n my son raised her. N she turned on my son when he had a puppy in his arms. Yet I always had a feeling to keep an extra extra eye on her, so glad I listened to my gut. N put myself between them when she went for him. After that she took off, broke her collar after a man a whole block away walking down the steeet minding his own business, thankfully she listened to her recall n came back. I did put her down. She was 3 years old n no history of abuse. It’s the breed, never again will I own another. Even my 120lb wolf dog that busted thru fences was not that aggressive n never turned on his family.

That baby is not ok. They end up with more than stitches. They end up with trauma and could impact how they relate to dogs in the future. So sad.

Why did NY not have mandatory muzzle law? It’s way too crowded to walk dogs in most areas. I had a dog that was problematic and I HAD to walk him with a muzzle ALWAYS.

Pitbull owners should always put a muzzle on their dog bc this could’ve been prevented, the only person I feel bad for is the child and his family bc that baby should not have faced that trauma.

I can’t imagine walking my dog in such a densely populated city without a muzzle, not even my lab who has never behaved aggressively towards anyone or anything. There’s just too much potential for disaster.
