i saw the keysight oscilloscope setup at your bench. Those cost around 2k $. Why didn't you buy a cheaper one but still good product like rigol or sigilent? Is it necessary for your work to spend that much? I wanna learn the difference

everyone who ever got a little bit of electricity lessons know that the "least resistance" is really just bs. if anything is parallel connected it will pull current as calculatable on each branch. including the device. why ground protection works is because of voltage limiting components in the device is what actually protects it. the ground is to divert excessive voltage from the voltage limiting components.

Thanks for your post on ESD. Just starting to play with R-Pi and other aux boards. Seems like those promoting these electronics do not use ESD protection. It should be, right?

it's actually the dielectric of the CMOS gates that is most sensitive to ESD, the very small spacing between gate and bulk in a transistor creates a very small capacitor, and when your body discharges, that charge creates a large field that leads to dielectric breakdown, not just the wires failing which is usually a less likely mode of failure
