This avocado on sourdough contains more calories than two jam donuts or 13 biscoff biscuits. That’s because a large slice of sourdough (170 calories) and 175g avocado (350 calories) amounts to 520 calories. Whereas two jam donuts amount to approximately 490 calories and 13 biscoff biscuits amount to 494 calories. While nutrients and satiety are important, if fat loss of the goal, so is calorie consumption. There is more sugar in this 750ml fruit smoothie (83g) than a 175g packet of popular sweets (81g) or 5 cans of regular 7up (76g). While there more nutrients in the smoothie, you could eat a couple of pieces of fruit to achieve a similar nutrient acquisition for significantly less sugar. There is more saturated fat in 400g sirloin steak (40g) than 25 boxes of McDonald’s medium fries (38g). The steak contains additional nutrients, but eating too much saturated fat over time could lead to cardiovascular problems. While these facts may be interesting and slightly helpful, it doesn’t mean individual foods are good or bad.
