I took care of my grandparents for 8.5 years. My grandpa had Alzheimer’s and my grandma had vascular dementia. The first time my grandma introduced me as her caregiver instead of her granddaughter absolutely gutted me. I’m sorry. Dementia is a terrible disease.

My great grandmother who turned 92 has dementia. Every time we visit she still gets up, refuses to use her walker as she makes us breakfast and just loves us. It's sad but also brought a smile to my face when she thought I was my mum's new son. I just transitioned before visiting her. But she still loved me nonetheless. Sat with me while painting, cooked for me, and even slipped me some cash before leaving.

My grandma is on her deathbed and struggling with dementia. She probably has two more days to live and it’s really taking a toll on my mental health because she doesn’t even know who I am even though I’ve been with her most of her life. I just wish that she wouldn’t have to deal with the dementia.

My great grandmother on my dad side lived with us during this when I was 12-15 ish. She raised me. Watching her forget me physically was so painful. This last Christmas I watched my very firery grandmother start to display symptoms. Just trying to mentally prepare myself 🥹

My grandma is the best woman, I love her. I’m her full time care giver. She’s got dementia and Alzheimer’s, sun downers is no joke. I love that she had puppies. She forgot me for the first time 3 years ago, she’s called the police on my mother (her daughter) for something she made up, the fact you don’t get upset with her is so wonderful. My gramma has fatty liver so I can’t give her any wine but I to love that she can “eat brownies”…. She has a little an it helps a bit, def doesn’t hurt. Love your mom, she is gorgeous and she IS a celebrity
