👉🏼Watching 7News Spotlight featuring Senator Pauline Hanson visiting the Islamic College of Brisbane. As someone watching the program, this is how I felt. To me, the Islamic College appears to be an elite school for members of the Muslim community. The three young women Senator Pauline Hanson sat down and spoke with were all very well educated. The last young woman she spoke to caught my attention. Senator Pauline Hanson asked her about polygamy and multiple marriages. She replied that it is not allowed in Australia because it is not the law here. However, what stood out to me was that she also said she would be comfortable being married as a young bride. Senator Pauline Hanson also asked her whether she felt comfortable wearing her hijab. She answered yes, explaining that she had worn it from a young age because her mother wears one. My personal view is that family expectations can have a very strong influence on children while they are growing up. Senator Pauline Hanson has every right to ask these questions. She has held these views for many years and has been consistent in raising them. I believe Australians should think carefully about how our country is changing and what Australia’s identity will look like in the future. One question I have is this: Senator Pauline Hanson visited an Islamic college. Would the response have been the same if she had visited an Islamic public school? Would she have been welcomed, or would she have been met with hostility? I don’t know the answer, but it is a question that came to my mind while watching the program. In my opinion, this is also where the media can influence public perception. The way stories are presented can shape the narrative that people see on television and online, and as viewers we naturally form opinions based on the information we are shown. These are simply my personal observations after watching the program. #paulinehanson #onenation #islamicschool #yourthoughts #australiatiktok
