At 3:00 AM, my 92-year-old mother insisted she had to go home because she believed my late father was alone. If your mother or father living with dementia has ever done something similar, I want you to know you’re not alone. In many places, behaviors like this are still mistaken for madness or witchcraft. My hope is that my mother’s journey will help replace stigma with understanding so more parents and grandparents can receive the dignity and care they deserve.
