Mom handled stockings every year because she *loved* doing them. I always thought my dad was forgetful and didnt care. he always shopped on Christmas Eve for her and us. then suddenly this year he was in the hospital and he wanted to go AMA with *heart failure* because he didnt want her to not have gifts. so in order for him not to leave the hospital I told him to give me the list of what he wanted bought and I would go get it. he gave me the list of what he wanted to get her then when they released him just before dinner yesterday he paid me back and said thank you.

I saw a book at the used bookstore I was thinking of getting and when I went back it was already gone. I had mentioned it to my husband but - this is what I can't figure out - I couldn't remember the author's name or the title of the book. Just that it was a local author who we heard speak at the historical society meeting once in 2025. With only that to go on he found and bought the book! I have no idea how he got it correct, it was really a needle in a haystack. If they want to they can.

It takes training…. In the first few years, I’d make my husband a wish list. After 20 years, now he’s a pro! This year I got a bottle of my favorite wine, Ghirardelli chocolates, and Burts Bees lip balm.

My husband is a great guy. He makes sure the stockings are full every year, mine included. This year, I was having a severe chronic pain flair. He did the majority of the shopping. Christmas Eve he went out and bought more gifts because he wanted to make sure Christmas was plentiful for everyone. I did a few hours of shopping for him and crocheted a scarf for him. I cooked, with lots of help from my daughter. My husband does all the decorations inside and outside too. I know I got really lucky.

People treat you how you allow them to. I don't feel bad if it has been a year after year thing. My dad has always bought something for everyone. Although he may not be the best gift selector, he still has gifts every year.

People treat you the way you allow them too, husbands included. I tell my husband when he has hurt my feelings or let me down and I explain to him why and then if he tells me he's sorry I say I don't want to hear you're sorry, show me don't tell me and leave it at that. He oftentimes shows me after that. Marriage is a partnership and you have to communicate and make the other person aware. If they're not willing to change or validate your feelings after that, then you've got a real problem.

I think this is how men are. I had to remind my bf to get me something and if he paid tarriffs. Then reminded him I was going to have nothing under the tree...so he went and bought me a rifle..... 😭(I never wanted a rifle???) im not complaining but he didnt even try this year AND I SENT HIM LINKS AND STILL HAD TO REMIND HIM.

A friend and I trade stocking gifts every Christmas Eve. She buys and wraps gifts for my stocking and I do the same for hers. We’ve done this for over 20 years. I look forward to this tradition every year!

My husband didn’t fill my stocking but he did get me a well thought out gift. He also made me homemade cheese cake. He also make me homemade marshmallow to top the s’more fudge I decided Christmas Eve I wanted to make. He also cooked the entire Christmas dinner. Yes he could have done something but he works hard so that I can stay home with my kids. He cooks every meal that he is home. He is a very wonderful and present dad. He is a good husband. So because he makes a lot of efforts in so many other places a stocking can slide for me! 🤷🏻‍♀️if I told him it was important even once he would do it. For me, because of all of his other efforts, it’s just not important! But I understand why it is for others!

I was married for 25yr. Most of that time I was given money to make Christmas happen. That meant buying for everyone, including myself. Yes, I’d wrap my gifts and put his name on them. Once my oldest was old enough to shop on her own, he gave her the money and had her start getting my gifts. I finalized my divorce two months ago.

I was involved in the Christmas wrapping as early as possible. I started hating Christmas pretty quickly bc I learned that my dad wasnt involved in the gift giving. my mom bought all of the stuff that went in her stocking. I dont think this is new. :(
