I was taught a comma was a pause, so if I’m writing in my stream of consciousness, I think I comma is needed whenever I stop so that you know how I was feeling.

you use semicolons when connecting a full sentence to another one! i.e “I went to the store to get groceries; I forgot to grab some lemons.” typically it only works then they’re somewhat related though
