Yall, he isn’t saying ai is good because it doesnt waste as much water as people have been making it look. He’s combatting disinformation. Disinformation is still bad even if it helps your argument. There are plenty of other reasons that ai is bad that we could use, and yes while ai still does use and pollute a lot of water, it’s much less than basically every other major water user

Ppl are missing the point. The water usage is not the real issue. We have water. Other industries use much more water. The issue with AI data centers’ water usage is that the corporations running these factories are GREEDY. The water is sourced largely from rural communities which is why residents located near data centers are struggling. Poor infrastructure is the problem. It’s actually the root issue of a lot of problems in this country 😭

AI water use in an environmental aspect is one of the least concerning aspects of AI on a large scale. For the communities where it affects local utility costs is the real problem with its power and water use. It’s still not good… but I mean if that’s people’s major concern there are bigger environmental ‘fish to fry’— but not an invalid criticism

mind you WITHOUT humans, there would be no ai in the first place. people feared fire, electricy, feared that the internet was going to ruin humanity. they give power to the tools THEY use and then randomly decide to fear it.
