@jake.pnw: These Sea Bulbs Gush When Smashed‼️😱 Bull kelp can grow over 100 feet long, and during peak season it can add up to around 2 feet in a single day as it anchors to rock on the seafloor and shoots upward toward sunlight with one big float holding the blades near the surface. It’s edible too, the fresh stipe is crisp and chewy with a salty briny flavor, and when it’s pickled it turns into a crunchy sea-snack with a mild ocean taste. On the Oregon Coast, razor clam shells wash up constantly, those smooth empty halves scattered along the beach after tides and storms. Unlike spiral shells that often get reused, razor clam shells usually don’t become long-term “housing,” so waves crack them down into smaller and smaller pieces until they’re basically sand again. #Learning #Science #Education #Nature #animals
