Sis…these second, third, fourth wives were for a very specific purpose. These women were widows, orphans, lost their husbands at a time of war, etc. And Allah swt specifically requires that each wife be treated equally, but if the man cannot (which he likely will not be able to do so), then marry ONE. If you’re content with that risk, that’s completely fine, but keep that standard between you and Allah swt. If you want to be someone’s second, third or fourth pick, or that you marry a man who feels you as an individual is not enough, may Allah swt give you ease. That’s really sad though

But if you fear that you will not be just, then marry only one…” A man can marry a second wife without asking permission from his first wife at all. And no its not a "it was different back then". This is a ruling for all times.

All the women leaving - when is the last time you dressed up for your husband? (Not a party or outside). When is the last time you initiated w/o an argument before or after?
