You have to leave them alone, the more u try to get close the more wary he will be. Just go about ur business, talk so he.hears ur voice but don't try to force interactions. If he approaches u palm up keep ur hand low & let him come to u.

I got a cat about a year ago. she hid in the basement under the sofa for 3 days. She progressed to under my bed after a week. She now sleeps right next to me every night. They warm up just be available and follow their queues.

Lol you aren’t doing anything wrong, it’s just taking him time to adjust to his new surroundings and new friend! When I adopted mine, the shelter told me the 3-3-3 rule. The first three days, they’re mostly scared and shocked by the new environment so hiding is common. Hissing is just a sign to back up/I seriously need space. The first three weeks they start getting more comfortable, will start exploring a bit. By the end of the first three months, they should be pretty confident and settled!
