@therealemilyabraham: I have felt the same for the past 7 Christmas’s. Utter mum guilt. But on another note, how do practicing Muslims justify throwing Diwali parties and birthday parties and Christmas then going to umrah? I can’t understand the justification. #christmas #eid #birthday
In the nicest way, the way you justify not wearing a scarf is the way they justify doing Christmas, both are wrong but we all have our own reasons. X

You’re actually doing the right thing Just because many Muslims do something doesn’t automatically make it halal. Islam is based on Qur’an and Sunnah, not numbers. As reverts, you’re often more careful, and that’s beautiful. Keep learning and keep explaining gently to your daughter. When love for Allah, Islam, and the Qur’an grows in her heart, these things will make sense to her too. May Allah reward your effort and give you ease

Believe it or not, a lot of it has to do with consumerism and marketing. The way it’s shoved into our face

I agree with you Emily especially because the meaning behind Christmas goes against our religion 100% making it so much worse then people take it to be. Maybe try making the whole season cozy warm and cute so she associates them with winter and not just Christmas.

You’re definitely doing a great job Emily! It’s always the right choice to help our children understand and be educated of their own religion.

It’s about the customs and traditions of the land. If you choose to live in a country, you integrate with its society and customs. That doesn’t mean adopting the religion, it’s basic respect.

It’s more cultural than religious. Obviously Muslims & other religions are not going to go to Christmas Mass, but they take part in the culture. I think it’s nice. Especially when you live in regions where Christmas culture is the norm..

I think it’s kindness towards others as a Christian I gift my Muslim friends gifts on their Eid, and they gift me when it’s our Christmas
