Hyundai tech here most Hyundai engines don’t have cylinder wall issues they have rod bearing issues especially cylinder 3…… key word is MOST I have seen some engines with bad piston rings

This is from a 2008 corolla, it has oil on it but I’m thinking maybe it needs a valve cover gasket? 200k km on it

Yes. Excessive blow by. Very common on the 2.4. Moreso on the newer theta engine you’re working on. Those plugs have already been changed as a bandaid to get the misfire gone. Rod bearings are covered under the T3G, but oil consumption is not. Sell them an engine and move on
