Calling endometriosis “benign” is offensive imho. Personally I prefer referring to endo as a metastatic disease - this implies the severity without directly calling it cancer 💛

I vividly remember an Ask Reddit thread where a pathologist answered and wrote about a woman he was doing an autopsy on as she passed away in her 40’s with ‘no known comorbidities’. The diagnosis the doctors had written on her chart were ‘hypochondriac + anxiety + d seeker’ etc as she had been complaining about her pain for >20 years. When the pathologist opened her up, she was riddled with endometriosis everywhere… I have endometriosis & adenomyosis, 5 surgeries deep, and yet I still have to fight to be taken seriously. I hate it here 💔

Patient about 10 years ago had spread to lungs & heart. We tried so many treatments in an attempt to suppress. She would drop a lung almost every 3 or 4 months. She eventually succumbed to the damage. Was only 25.

I had an ER doctor recently tell me that my idea that endometriosis spreads beyond the uterus was intriguing.... he said it was intriguing.... he said I just agree but I think it's an intriguing idea... 💀 we're cooked ladies.

I suffered for YEARS! Finally a full hysterectomy at 35, and it also had to be scraped off my bladder and my intestines, and it was creeping up towards my lungs. It’s a cancer.

I had to have endometriosis removed from my bladder. The most painful thing I’ve ever done and my bladder has never been the same. I still had to fight for another decade to have my uterus removed. Why? “You may want more children”

So it's in the umbrella category of tumors, got it! I always wondered what the pedantic rule was for classifications. I had a hysterectomy in September for adenomyosis.
