Restaurant service is HARD work and on a holiday you’d hope people would be more ‘jolly’ … this hit hard for you. I love when you said ‘we are all hungry’ because yes we are and this guys hunger isn’t paramount to anyone else’s. Anyway. Hugs.

When I was a server I once had a family where one of them walked in first and said “I’m so sorry” then 2 seconds later grandma walked in and from the second they walked in till they left she had demands and complaints for the entire time. Poor family.

ive been in the restaurant business over 20 years. I have been very fortunate to work at places where this shit wouldn't have gone on. I now own my own place and I regularly "train" my guests. I made staff shirts that say "be nice or leave"

I was taught not to correct my elders but that has its limits. They should’ve either said something or came to you separately to apologize and make sure you were taken care of with an appropriate tip. You were a hell off a lot nicer than most people would’ve been. Hopefully the rest of your holiday season is better 🖤

im sorry this happened to you. we had one lady on christmas day who was absolutely horrible , not my section but I went over to the table twice to put her in her place - my younger coworker was getting upset.

While it doesn't excuse that kind of behavior, and I feel ya, I didn't about 12 yrs behind the bar, we don't know what that person was going through. Just try and think of something that would make you feel bad enough that you would be that rude or mean to another person. Just something I learned over the years in the service industry, a little empathy goes a long way.
