Please reference general note number 1- The plans are diagramttic in nature only, and the contractor shall confirm all existing conditions, and coordinate all work with all trades. If a discrepancy exists, the contractor shall provide the most expensive solution at no additional cost to the owner. Like water off a ducks back, nothing sticks to the A/E team.

This is so right on. We are doing a HVAC job right now that is already putting up Sheetrock and their are still over 400 open RFIs on mechanical and electrical.

Believe it or not it wasn't like this 50 years ago. There were some really bad Architects but in general they were good and cooperative.

The best RFI that I love getting is when I can literally respond to the RFI with a drawing and detail number. Then it’s always ohhh I didn’t see that 🤦♂️

As an architect, I agree. When I started a new job, I focused on catching up on overdue submittals and RFIs, but the company wasn’t receptive. I spoke up, saying we could and should do better by responding to RFIs on time. I even proposed a plan with schedules and team training. That led to probation, and eventually I was fired or asked to resign—for trying to improve the process. Sad, but unfortunately a real part of the profession.
