I’m gifted, I have ADHD and I received my autism diagnosis about one month ago and it’s been hard. A lot of answers but when more unmasked I act more lonely I am. I feel without support being 43 and without a community

This is exactly what I did the new years after I was diagnosed and it was the best decision I ever made 🖤 finally dragged myself out of burnout and and actually enjoying my simple quiet life and taking care of my needs

I have been masking for now I’m 54. I don’t even know how to begin. I’m asking, but I know that the Remi has a flat tone and if this fake me is this amalgamate personality that makes people laugh and entertains and I’m just exhausted from pretending to be this alternate personality and actually I’m very quiet and I like to sing and dance and talk to my animals. That’s not a personality that’s a stim but I will be so very rejected if I act authentic, who I actually am it is so being from the 80s like a complete socially repulsive nerd like nothing I do right is socially if I let down my guard. I can give it a try, but I would be utterly alone and how I don’t really know how to unlearn all the fake habits. I do them for self protection and self preservation. I hope you don’t feel alone in this because there’s so many like you, I thought I was alonefighting rumors that I was crazy in the 80s when I was not and I knew I was not.

Oh, SAME! 😏
I've been adapting and improving myself so much for so long that I've burnt myself out. 2026 is going to be about working just 2 half days (or even less if things don't improve) and getting back to my true self in terms of activities, commitments and goals that are good for me; and getting away from things that aren't.

Same! I will be turning 34 in February finally realized I was autistic this past year. Time to be me. Time to stop being a people pleaser. As a woman, I tried to be a perfectionist to fit in and it never worked. So now I will try being me

Unmasking as a late life diagnosed is hard! I’m going through it. But I feel that it’s the only future my nervous system can live in. Great videos Trevor, 💜💜

This is my goal for 2026. 2024: got the diagnosis, 2025: overcame several mental health struggles, 2026: BE ME

I love this. Instead of improving one’s self, becoming MORE of one’s self. After a lifetime of masking this really is the best thing to focus on. Thank you for your gentle wisdom. 💜
