Sorry if this sounds bad, but I’m tired of receiving the basic things like mugs, fuzzy socks, and bottles of lotion. Those seem to be the cliché items people grab for women. I have way too many of them.

Gift giving is kind of an art. It’s like hey I’m aware of your likes and dislikes, and I think you’d enjoy this. It’s paying attention to someone, learning about them, understanding them.

I say this every year "please just get me exactly what I I send if you plan on getting me anything I truly don't need anything else" and EVERY YEAR I get loads of junk and maybe one thing I ask for it's not about being ungrateful I just don't want or need it! Save your money!

This is how I feel during the holiday season being a teacher. I never ever ever expect a gift from a parent/student and I'm always so grateful and appreciative...but I'm on my like 15th travel mug and it just feels so wasteful.

I agree with this 100 percent! Why waste money time and space lol I stopped gifting to extended family on Xmas cause then they would buy me and my family but it’s stuff we’d never wear or use.

I FEEL SO SEEN 😭 i went on a rant the other day because I got called ungrateful because I honestly said “I appreciate the gift but I don’t see myself using it” 🥺 like I would 1000% accepted a hand written letter or a gift card vs a sweater or purse that first of all isn’t my size nor style..
