Pepperpot is a hard dish to describe because there aren’t many dishes to compare it to, if any. It’s sweet with hints of bitterness, since the Casareep (the main ingredient) is made from bitter cassava, and the amount of Casareep, spices, and sugar used can affect the dish tremendously. It’s a difficult dish to perfect. It’s definitely an acquired taste, and you may find it hard to process the dish’s complexity the first few times you try it, but it becomes easier to appreciate the more you eat it. Authentic homemade Pepperpot should be better than store-bought Pepperpot.
