THIS is why we suffer at home unless absolutely necessary to go to the ER. After 30 years of migraines, NO one hospital LISTENS to our med sensitivities & they just follow their “cocktail” regardless.

My neuro has me do almost this at home with magnesium, Tylenol, ibuprofen, Benadryl, diet dr pepper and a zofran. If I need opioids for a migraine we’ve waited way too long for all those other things.

As someone with chronic migraines who has been given it all, please reconsider giving compazine. It makes so many of us feel like absolute garbage and I’d personally rather just have the migraine than take it.

Hey just a little curbside, studies show toradol has similar efficacy between 10, 15, and 30 mg doses, so essentially almost no scenario where we should be giving 30 mg because there is no added benefit and there is an increased risk of AKI

5 comp/25 benadryl/15 toradol/6 dex/1L NS. been my go to for years. wish we could do 1g IV tylenol, but our pharmacy complains that it costs too much.

Add in depakote 500mg-750mg IV, and you’ve got yourself a winning migraine infusion! As a small Headache Medicine language update, we’ve moved away from the term “migraine cocktail” and instead use the term “migraine infusion.” The term cocktail can feel minimizing and stigmatizing to migraine sufferers.

This is why the ER is useless for me. I have chronic migraines, y’all just make things worse. I’ll stay home and suffer in a dark, quiet room without people explaining to me how they want to try the cocktail I already know either doesn’t work or that I cannot take because of reactions to elements of it. Aimovig brought my migraines from 23 a month to only 8 or 9, and they aren’t as bad and don’t last as long, thankfully. I think of how many hours I suffered needlessly in an ER and I want to cry.

had a csf leak, showed up to urgent care thinking it was migraine so they tried this cocktail. gave me the craziest anxiety I have ever experienced. and made no difference because I wasn't having migraine. would not recommend 😭
