Also, CGI has evolved over the years, artistic style can especially change. It's been over a decade since the first movie, I don't think it would ever stay 1 to 1.

I will say I REALLY miss their big golden eyes. Neytiri reminds me of a tarsier in some scenes in the first movie and it’s so beautiful

They actually did shorten the na’vi by one foot so like jake is 8’11 in 2 and 3, instead of 9’11 in the first film

its not that theyre less blue… theyre less TEAL. they used to have a slight green teal to them like in the photo of tsutey. hes like a BLUE teal and you cant say it’s the forest reflecting because hes not in the forest. they 100% desaturated them

Also, pretty sure they’re deliberately lighter in the second film because they’re ocean dwelling and biologically more adapted with lighter skin

The character you can really see the eye shrinkage on is Peylak. People say it's because of the wind that the Tlalim people have evolved narrower eyes, but there's a way to give the Na'vi narrower, smaller, eyes while still looking "alien," or rather distinct from humans.

i think also to consider is the sully fam are half-human/avatar so they can retain some of those features (like eyebrows, true na'vi don't have furry eyebrows)

Yeah, I’ve seen that complaint about the Na’vi height when people don’t realize just how tall spider actually is, the only one that’s even remotely around his height is Tuk. But the rest of them absolutely tower over him.

a lotta folks don't realize sometimes we just lose the ability to make things look a certain way in movies because we just lose the tech associated with it. like we can't do technicolor anymore, yet it was revolutionary at the time it debuted
