yep, israel recognised Bangladesh in 1971 after bengali muslims were betrayed by fellow muslims who either carried out their slaughter (Pakistanis) or supported it (Arabs supporting Pakistan), Bangladesh, despite all their trauma did NOT recognise Israel. Bangladesh deffo didn't owe that, but they acted on basic decency

It's an Asymmetric Alliance, basically a trade off where both sides get exactly what they’re missing. One gets security economic growth and legitimacy! After 35+ years, while the other gets a strategic foothold or resources.

That Israel is recognizing it now is certainly no accident: Somaliland lies opposite Yemen (where Iran has influence), and Turkey works closely with Somalia. So this move by Israel was also a message to Iran and Turkey.
