I was raised in a home where anytime I had some kind of a dream, I was told I couldn’t so much it became my inner voice. But check this out: I met my husband in 2016 and finally, for the first time in my life, had a cheerleader. In 2020 I started my bachelors program. I graduated in 2023 with a 3.99 gpa. I just finished my masters program with a 4.0 gpa. It didn’t take much, just another person to believe in me.

Saying "I am poor" or "I dont have enough" sure seems like a fact. But it keeps us from seeing opportunities and prevents us from creating solutions. It also hides what IS working so we dont even see how rich we already are (and I dont mean metaphorically). Notice how fast the mind wants to hold on to the "Im too poor" identity and how hard it wants to argue that this belief is true. It amazes me that some will hold on so tight they are willing to destroy their relationships, friendship, jobs, house, etc just to maintain this identity.

I went on a Mexico beach vacation once and when I came back one of my employees was looking at photos of my trip and was like “man I’ll never be able to do that” and I was like if you say so. I’m grateful to have been able to help him succeed and his family and mine a couple years later went out baller style to Tulum and had a great time.

In college, when I helped women friends with math, they frequently solved problems due to feeling supported, even before I gave them an explanation. I can only speculate they needed permission to be smart. I'm glad to see younger generations of women don't need as much permission as they used to.
