See, I personally disagree with the caption... Ambessa says in ep4 that she is impressed by Caitlyn standing up to her so much. She might have successfully LIED to her for a couple months before getting caught, but Ambessa was never able to fully get Caitlyn's trust or obedience. Heck, even Mel spent decades believing lies Ambessa told her, so that's clearly not a barrier to her affection. And in the end, not only did Rictus acknowledge Ambessa's attachment to Caitlyn, but during the final battle Ambessa couldn't go through with killing Caitlyn herself or even WATCHING after ordering someone else to do it
