Why was meat so luxurious if every farmer had a bunch of chicken?? Sure they can’t eat them all otherwise they wouldn’t have eggs but i thought they’d eat one on special occasions like weddings or baptisms

Diets changed massively throughout the “medieval” period because that was over a millennium you’re better off doing either eras or smaller periods of time to show the diets

Ive read that they added spices a lot so that the meat, which often was past its good state, didnt taste like that. also they didnt eat just the meat of the animals but almost everything of them, all the organ meats, eyes, feet...

Medieval History :
The average person in the Middle Ages ate more meat than we do today. Their calorie needs were higher, and these could not have been met without meat. There is no evidence whatsoever of bread bowls. The Church did NOT dictate what people ate.
