Poltergeist is my FAVORITE horror movie! Heather O'Rourke was so adorable and didn't know how great of an actress she was. Can't believe Steven Spielberg found her at a mall food court just eating with her family and decided to test out her acting abilities. The ending of the 3rd Poltergeist movie always saddens me because she didn't get to film the last scene before she passed. You could also see the bloating in her face the entire movie too caused by the bowel issues and infection. Her official cause of death is "due to septic shock from intestinal stenosis (a narrowing of the intestine) which was complicated by sepsis, following two cardiac arrests after a misdiagnosed infection, with her death attributed to complications from this congenital condition." I really wonder where her acting career would've taken her if she was still alive. She will always be one of my favorite child actresses.

We were the same age and like a lot of us Gen X kids we watched these movies when we were just as young. I remember being so sad and confused. My parents told me she died from infection caused the bowel to rupture. She was the first actress I remember passing. Broke my young heart. Even to this day I think of her and Jonathan Brandis. i hope they found peace.
