Aren’t tympanostomy tubes for Eustachian tube dysfunction, not Patulous Eustachian tube? Surely it would make the Eustachian tube more Patulous and worsen symptoms tenfold?

I loved having my tubes.. helps me so much with swimmers ear but ..what i get it from may make it worse..which is sleeping on it! but uh the relief of a tube placement when the clicking when u swallow is done ..for only a year .but then different docs say my kids tube is still there or not there. always different. they so lazy its like they refuse to look longer than 1sec!

Ok I’m real curious as to what all your symptoms were, did you have any fluctuations with hearing? Like hear one day good & muffled the next?

I will be getting my 2nd one done after having it removed back when I was a teenager. Apparently my Eustachian tube is completely swollen shut and refuses to open no matter what we try. I’m also getting a Osia Cochlear implant in my other ear at the same time the tube will be placed. Gonna be a long surgery but I’m so ready for some relief and hearing in my non hearing ear 😭

I was just diagnosed with this in both of my ears and all the doctor told me was I basically have to live with it 😭 he said to try taking potassium iodine or iodide drops with juice daily and it “might help” but I left with more questions than answers.. living with it the rest of my life is NOT an option.. because it’s been an all day every day thing for MONTHS and I’m at my breaking point feeling like I’m in a fish bowl when I breathe and talk 😭 I can’t even blow my nose without extreme pressure in my ears!

I just got my tube put in and everything sounds muffled. I’m freaking out that I made the wrong decision. They say 7-10 days for ear drum to get back to normal. 😬

Do you have Patulous ETD? You’re so calm about the air coming through your ear. How does this not drive you insane? And how does Puting a hole in the eardrum help the PETD?

my husband suffered for years with fluid behind his ears. he has tube now and its a life saver. he's so much happier and can hear again!
