For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue :
I would consider it an urgent, serious husbandry issue if I saw a wild animal in my care showing this level of stress for any amount of time. I would also, correctly, lose my license if it happened with any regularity. It’s disturbing that dog shelters get away with a level of abuse that would clearly be unacceptable in any other branch of animal welfare.

it's just like TNR. the no kill movement is causing more harm than good. for stray/feral cats it need to be TNFE. and the max a dog should be in a shelter is 2 years. it's almost guaranteed that after 2 years of solitary confinement they will have psychological problems people are the same way.

I dont know why we dont discuss zoo psychosis (or kennel psychosis) in dog rescue. We have research and information about this. It isnt an opinion, its verifiable that this is psychological torture and destroys an animal.

How the hell does ANYONE think this is ok? There are things so much worse then death, this being one! Come on people, this is just not ok. When the animal starts to have a mental breakdown from being in a kennel, it is time. For the sake of that animal. How have we lost sight of that?

Those kennels are way too small. The kennels at my shelter are way bigger and roomier, about the size of my large bedroom.

This is why I have it in my directive that, if I pass or become unable to care for my dog and a specific list of people cannot take him, he’s to be put to sleep. He will never face the sinister realities of being in a kennel setting long term.

I rescued my chihuahua because she was exhibiting these behaviors and I have to say everybody says it’s only ‘high energy dogs’ w these problems no truly no dog ever deserves to sit in a cage 23 hours a day. The laziest dog ever doesn’t want that life, exercise ur fkn dogs big or small and give them a LIFE

I worked at a place like this and it was horrible. I could tell you about it Gia. I reported but I’m not sure anything came of it. Horrible.
