Everyone is different I know lineman who didn’t go to no damm line school and turned out to be just damm fine. But hey if you wanna go to line school thats all on u.

Go to a utility company. They will train you . If you already have your cdl you have a good shot at getting hired

Only worth it if it is free if not just get your cdl sign books get groundman jobs u get way more experience as a groundman than u could in line school

Do not I repeat do not go to line school. Companies want to teach you their way of doing things. Line school will be the biggest waste of money you could possibly spend your money on

I don’t care what anyone says lineschool gave me a huge jump and in my opinion a head start above someone who didn’t. Gi bill also was nice

A class A CDL is an ace up the sleeve. I got all my training at my job & the only thing I paid out of pocket for was the state test & was immediately reimbursed, I passed the first try. I’m never giving up my CDL..and I retired from the job in September.

My dad was a lineman for almost 40 years. I went on call outs with him from 11 years old up. Went to lineschool. But my school was a full year. Inside learning all of the theory and book work and outside building lines learning construction.

If ur not a veteran and use ur gi bill I would highly recommend not to and just goto a Cdl school or get ur Cdl ur gonna be a ground hand no matter what

Its a nice idea but whomever you go to work for is still keeping you as an apprentice when you start for 4 more years. Majority of them do in house training.

How about we get back to the basics were we hire in as a Grounman.Show that u want it for more than just the money,learn knots materials,framing,and after 6 months if u don’t know framing and knots goodbye.us older guys didnt need climbing school,we just started out as groundman and u learned to operate equipment,climb and got paid doing it….sux when the lineman has to do groundwork and then get in the bucket and do the work just because companies dont hardly hire groundman anymore
