Flat rate is killing the drive for mechanics to be in the industry on top of how hard vehicles are to work on with how many companies are trying to oay techs the minimum while requiring them to go through expensive training and buy expensive proprietary tools to work on vehicles

Im flatw rate no offense but if im only paid on cars I work on. ill show up and leave when I decide especially if there are no benefits like where I work lol test me

if im flat rate im flex time if its slow im out to work on my own stuff you want me at work have work ready. its not on me to bring work in that's managers and advisors job. if they can't do their job how can I do mine. if im not getting paid im not required to stay

If there’s no cars to work on and they just sit there waiting on cars shops can’t pay the hourly rate because they have 4 guys before the car reaches the tech but all of they are paid hourly and don’t get me started on supplements it’s the advisors job to write the whole estimate not the tech we don’t get paid unless we are working on the car

why i left automotive and went to forklifts fixing forklifts is hourly more challenging and the companies pay significantly better with full benefits. apply for crown its the best company anybody in the tech industry can be with
