@compass.acres: When I redid this ditch, the naysayers came out strong— “Too narrow.” “It won’t last.” “Winter will shift it.” And maybe they’re right… if the goal was 100 years. But that was never the goal. This was about working with nature, using what I had on hand, stacking rock with intention, and solving a real drainage problem right now. Since then, we’ve had some serious rain, and it’s holding up exactly like it should. 💪 The tradeoff? 👉 It needs maintenance. 👉 Keep it clear. 👉 Keep grass from taking over. That’s the reality of land stewardship—nothing is “set it and forget it,” especially when you build with nature instead of fighting it.
