@droliviapompa: Receipts are printed on thermal paper…Thermal paper is coated with BPA or BPS, endocrine-disrupting chemicals that absorb directly through your skin within seconds of contact. When you touch that receipt at checkout and then touch your face, rub your eyes, or handle your food, you’re transferring these hormone disruptors straight into your body. BPA mimics estrogen, interferes with thyroid function, and has been linked to fertility issues, metabolic dysfunction, and increased cancer risk. The thermal coating makes these chemicals uniquely bioavailable; they don’t need to be ingested to cause harm. Your skin is your largest organ, and it’s absorbing everything you touch. At the grocery store, ask for no receipt or request an email receipt instead. At Whole Foods, I scan my Prime so I get the receipt sent to my app. If you must take a paper receipt, avoid holding it any longer than necessary, never let children handle receipts, and wash your hands immediately before touching your face or food. Better yet, snap a photo if you need it for records and toss it. This is one of those invisible exposures that adds up daily.
