@factorevo_: The masking crab also known as a decorator crab is a master of camouflage. It attaches seaweed sponges shells and even anemones to tiny hooked hairs on its shell allowing it to blend perfectly into the seafloor. This disguise protects it from predators and sometimes even provides defense when stinging anemones are used as decoration. Found in shallow coastal waters these long legged crabs move easily through seaweed and rocks. After molting they can transfer their entire camouflage outfit onto their new shell which makes them one of the ocean’s most skilled disguise experts.
