@a.great.soul: When snowflakes descend, the ancient temple returns to its original hue. A blanket of white stretching across heaven and earth — this is the snow’s most generous gift. Only that streak of vermilion temple wall, standing quietly awake amid the boundless whiteness, is like a warm mark etched by history itself in the snow. Stepping into the hall, dimness and coolness wrap around you at once. As your eyes adjust, you come face to face with the statue of the Heavenly Maiden from the Liao and Jin dynasties. Her downcast eyes, bathed in the snowlight filtering through the window lattice, seem to hold a wisp of mist that has lingered for a thousand years — compassionate and serene. At that moment, the snow outside the hall, the statue inside, and I standing there are drawn into a wordless, distant dialogue. Snow blankets the ancient temple, purging the hustle and bustle of the world. Only the red wall and the painted sculpture, in this white expanse of time and space, tell a story more enduring than the rise and fall of dynasties. 📍Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple, Datong, Shanxi, China #🇨🇳 #Temple #ChineseCulture #Architecture #Aesthetic
