wait.. I remember learning about the shooting in some random Monday of 7th grade I was pulled out for something called the Riley Project I didn't know what to think at first since I didn't know we were talking about a shooting at first. ( it was only for select students . we were in the gym during 4-8th hour) So as soon as they stated to show news clips, live footage, and interviews of the family of Riley it all settled into me that we were talking about something really serious. they explained what happened in the shooting the bomb part got me for sure and the fact the, the day before the shooting Reily drew a picture with 15 tear drops I think ( I forgot exactly what she drew but I know she drew 15 of something around the main picture). at the end of the thing they told us " think of the person you love the most have died and you couldn't tell them bye" it broke me I cried and used that emotion knowing I had drama club right after school. I went back to my last hour that just so happens to be my favorite class. my friend A knew something was up and she asked me what was I doing there and things like that since she knew I was pulled out. I told her everything. apparently she got a slip to go to it too but her parents didn't sign it. mine did. I didn't think it was a choice so I asked my mom why she signed the form for the Riley Project since it traumatized me. she said she didn't know what it was either which is probably why I wasn't prepared. next year later 8th grade I get that form again and my mom knew not to sign it since for one i already done it once and two she didn't want me too go though that again.
