Great point. Technology is used to increase profit for the investors instead of increasing quality of life. The root problem of capitalism, profit before anything else. ✌

Exactly. The problem with capitalism is greed and socialiism is incentive. Singapore/china got it right by subjecting capitalism to nation socialistic policies n underpinning it is the state own the land so that the government is not under ransom by the greedy landlords in putting land to productive use for the common good.

and he couldnt have the profit to buy the machines without the workers. So maybe everybody must have equity either by the state or comp which no one would like to give.

Paul Doroshenko 🇨🇦 :
The problem here is the other capitalist against whom this theoretical person is competing. Also buys the machine and so that person decides to cut their price to try and get more markets share and so the capitalist who is about to pocket all of that extra money has to cut his price in order to preserve his market share and cut it a little bit further because he needs to grab some of the market share. And so the prices quickly slide down to the point where everybody’s at subsistence again. That’s the invisible hand.

So right, a number of famous thinker believed that by now people would work only 15 hours a day, no unemployment. For those who will argue that the boss has to pay for the machine and its a lot of money. Yes for a period until the machine are paid he will need to make/save but still once paid were back to Wolfe point. The other saying we can employ those workers to make the machine yes but just a fraction of them. That's partly why unemployment increased. AI is going to do this exponentially. And people who thought they couldn't be replaced will be.

If capitalist does this, he will lose the race against the national and international capitalists who are exploiting the workers.

If the machine the owner bought gets stolen 2 months later…is it ok for the workers to work full time and get half the salary while the owner pays the stolen machine?

Legend of the Seeker :
theres a difference between capitalism and weaponised economics.
what you are witnessing these days is more weaponised economics.
a side affect of globalisation and the intergrations of different market based economies competing to monopolise.
plenty of instances of market manipulations, in stock exchange, house and land, as well as business and corporate.
in this scenerio you cannot blame capitalism but the roots of the cause which is market manipulation to try to control the whole market.
aka an mono market vs a diverse market. a unitararian state vs a democratic state
socialism leads towards a unitarian state thats why you need to make sure the power is balanced.
not put all eggs in one basket so to speak.

But to a capitalist workers are just machines, adaptable machines, but prone to failure, require a lot of downtime, and expensive to run.
Solution, as always is taxation and universal income that always come from the state and includes medical, employer just pays whatever is agreed to over that.
Ofc that requires state owned housing and necessities productions to establish a baseline.
Problem solved, theoretically, practice involves corruption, which begets police and law, and police and law, and byrocracy, and those dont actually produce anything so the system starts eating it self.

I agree in general. But the man forgot one thing in his equation: the price of the machine itself and it maintenance.
