@aiteasy1: Tsunami waves start with a massive shift in the earth. An earthquake under the ocean pushes a giant wall of water. In the deep ocean these waves move at incredible speeds. They can travel as fast as a jet airplane. But from the surface they look like small ripples. A boat might not even notice the wave passing by. The danger grows as the water gets shallow near the shore. As the depth decreases the wave must slow down. The energy from the bottom is pushed to the top. That small ripple becomes a massive wall of water. It turns into a force that destroys everything in its path. I once worked with a coastal developer on risk strategy. He thought a small sea wall was enough protection. He did not understand the physics of energy displacement. You must respect the scale of the systems you work in. A small problem in deep water can become a crisis on land. Credit: full video on Sabin Civil Engineering YT Follow @Aiteasy to master complex systems and tell me if you have ever seen a big wave.
