Went to Matera 4 years ago and fell in love with it. Stayed in a cave hotel. The city is beautiful at any time of the day or night - the way the limestone buildings change color with the lighting is magical.

Matera is a special place, and very unique. Shouldn’t be missed. It’s funny calling any place in Italy “old,” but Matera is really, really old!
