Curiously after eight years of being regulated and not reading the room for what it really was, I had an epiphany and left the relationship gave it up without expecting the other person to change. In fact, I said that out loud I said this is about me and what I want to create my life. You don’t have to change. I just don’t wanna be in a relationship with you anymore. At that moment, everything shifted and the person showed up for me in exactly the way that I wanted them to when I put my nervous system first they responded and matched it. If I had known after day three, how to respond to this person instead of eight years I just wonder how much expansion, exploration and joy I would’ve felt. In any case the story ended with what I desired in the first place.

I wish I had realized this in my last relationship. I was so focused on who they were the first several months that when their inconsistencies and defensive started showing up I blamed myself. I stayed too long because of it. And then eventually they just left abruptly and without a conversation
